Director: David Galef
The creative writing minor, open to all undergraduates, requires six courses for a total of 18 credits. Students choose one of two main genres to focus in, either fiction or poetry, and take beginning, intermediate, and advanced workshops in that field, ending with a capstone project. *Note: The 400-level fiction and poetry workshops are only offered in the Spring semester.
In addition, students take two workshops in other genres, as well as a literature course in their chosen genre.
Students can also major in English with a creative writing concentration. The concentration requires any four creative writing workshops, which count toward the major in English. Workshops are offered in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, memoir, and other topics; screenwriting and playwriting workshops are cross‑listed through the School of the Arts.
