PHY 105  General Physics I  (4 credits)

Corequisite(s): PHY 105L. Prerequisite(s): MTH 160/MTH 161 or consent of the Instructor. This is an algebra-based course covering some of the fundamental principles and laws of nature. Topics include Newtonian mechanics, fluids, kinetic theory of gasses, heat and thermodynamics, periodic phenomena and wave motion. This course consists of lectures and one three-hour laboratory per week.

PHY 106  General Physics II  (4 credits)

Corequisite(s): PHY 106L. Prerequisite(s): PHY 105 or consent of the Instructor. This course is a continuation of PHY 105. Topics include electricity, magnetism, light, geometric and wave optics, quantum and atomic physics. The course consists of lectures and one three-hour laboratory per week.
