PHED 401  The Teaching of Science in Secondary Schools 4 Credits

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Teacher Education Program. Considered are the objectives, curriculum, planning, instructional strategies appropriate to science, materials, methods of evaluation, health safety and legal responsibilities in the secondary science program. The use of computers in the science instructional program will also be emphasized. 4 hours lecture.

PHED 505  Research Seminar in Science 2 Credits

This course is designed to afford opportunity for graduate students in science, supervisors, and science teachers: (1) to investigate research in science education; (2) to organize science experiences and science information with the teaching materials for the public schools. Each member of the group selects a project. This project must be presented to the science faculty and graduate students for evaluation. 2 hours seminar.
